What Graphic Card is the Best for Me?

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Dedicated graphics cards, which we will be discussing in this guide, are needed if you want to do 3D gaming or watch high definition movies (even though it may sometimes suffice with a powerful CPU and lot’s of internal RAM) Important Specifications to Consider When Choosing a Graphics Card

GPU

GPU stands for “Graphic Processing Unit” and is the main controlling circuit on every graphics card. The GPU is the most determinant feature of every graphics card when it comes to the overall performance and speed. The two biggest manufacturers of GPUs are NVIDIA and ATI (which is owned by CPU manufacturer AMD). They do the reference designs for each new generation of graphics card. But most graphics cards are sold by other manufacturers who produce their own flavour of the reference cards from NVIDIA and ATI. Examples of those manufacturers are MSI, Asus, ECS Elitegroup, XFX and more. Examples of recent generations of graphic GPUs from NVIDIA are; GeForce 8500/8600/8800/9800 GT/GTX/GX2 and GTX 260/280. ATIs latest generations of graphics cards are: RADEON HD 3850/4850/4870 in different versions.

RAM

It is also important to consider the amount and type of the onboard RAM of the graphics card, which is a different thing than the RAM of your computer. The RAM is important for a number of technical reasons we will not go into further here. But in short you should go for a graphics card with at least 256MB of RAM. The type of RAM is less important, but we recommend that you buy a graphics card with the second or later generation of GDDR (GDDR2 or later).

Different Slot Types

There are three different slots available on the PC market. The “slot” is where you connect the graphics card on the mainboard of your computer. You must verify which type of slot your mainboard has before purchasing a graphic card, or you may waste money on something you cannot use. The available slots are PCI (very old), AGP (old) or PCI express (today’s standard). All fairly recent bought computers are outfitted with a PCI Express slot, but be sure to check it. PCI express is the newest technology and allows the largest bandwidth which means better performance for you.

External Connectors

The connecters on the graphics cards are also important. Standard analog VGA connectors have been replaced by DVI (digital) connectors. The DVI connector is a must, some cards even come with two DVI connectors which will allow you to connect an extra display. Additional external connectors to look for are: •HDMI, which will enable you to connect your computer to a plasma or LCD-TV. (This can also be done through a DVI connector with a DVI/HDMI converter) •S-Video outputs are used to connect the PC to an older style VCR or TV and allow outputting the same display as present on your screen. •DB-15/VGS/SVGA connectors are basically utilized for a standard output to an analog monitor. Good if you have an old monitor.

Considering your budget

Of course, you financial possibilities will limit your purchase options too. Let’s take a look of what you can expect depending on how much you want or can afford. Remember that graphics cards are products with short cycles so suggestions below are only guide lines.

Low budget graphic cards

We are talking about spending $50 to $80, what can you expect? In this lower budget level the most popular and valuable GPUs from ATI and NVIDIA are the ATI Radeon HD 3650 and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 and 8600GT/GTS. These cards typically carry a RAM of 256MB-512MB depending on model and manufacturer. There are no problems to find cards with multiple DVI connectors and some even carry a HDMI connector. These types of cards are suitable for silent HTPCs and media centres since you can get them with silent passive coolers. We cannot recommend the entry level graphics cards for hardcore gaming rigs, even though they will play some older games with no sweat.

Medium priced graphic cards

In this segment, with prices from $80 to $250, you will find graphics cards with good performance even for gaming. You should be aware, because as we said, this is a fast moving market and you can sometimes find real bargains on the current generation of graphics cards when the next generation cards are introduced to the market. Prices drops fast when retailers and e-tailers have to make place in their stock for the new generation of cards. As always we recommend you to read expert reviews of graphics cards to find which the leading expert editors have recommended. Also based on the reviews, try to find out which is the last generation of GPU for the time being. Right now the last generation high end GPU from NVIDIA is the GTX 280. We couldn’t find a 280 GTX card below $250, but we did find one for $260 so the prices are dropping. We recommend you to go with the next to last generation cards like the GeForce 9800GTX or 9800GX2 (dual onboard GPU) and the ATI HD 3850 and 4870. They will offer you a great performance/price ratio.

Advanced graphic cards

Obtaining maximal performance and resolution may lead you to spend $400 and above on a high end graphics cards. This is for real gamers who need that extra FPS rate and resolution to perform optimally. You should look for dual GPU solutions, either onboard dual GPUs or using SLI or Crossfire technology (two physically separated graphics cards working together). The 3870 X2 with 1GB RAM from ATI is a good alternative and is somewhat cheaper than the 4870 X2 which naturally gives some extra percents of performance. From NVIDIA you should take a look at the GTX 280 and 9800GX2.

Start by setting clear points of what you want, need and can afford. Read Expert reviews of graphic cards, it’s the best way to obtain knowledge. Do not hesitate to ask around in hardare forums, people are generally happy to give you advice. Good Luck

Heavy and Large Dell Inspiron 1100

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Dell’s Inspiron 1100 budget system is a hit or miss product. Its base configuration is nothing special, but good deals can be found through Dell’s special offers. Dell’s mainstream Inspiron 1100 is the cheapest notebook in the newly redesigned Inspiron family, but it’s by no means the runt. Weighing 7.6 pounds, the 1100 is not ideal to lug around on a business trip or to class. In case you’re inclined to do so, however, Dell packs an efficient Celeron processor and a lithium ion battery rated at 6.45 Ah. And you can expect an impressive 4 hours of battery life, according to our BatteryMark test result.

Dell inspiron 1100 Des:

Intel Celeron 2.0 GHz Processor
256 MB PC2100 DDR Memory
30 Gigabyte Hard Drive
24x CD-ROM Optical Drive
15″ XGA (1024×768) LCD and Intel Extreme 3D Graphics with 64MB Shared Memory
AC’97 Audio
v.92 56Kbps Modem and 10/100 Ethernet
Two USB 2.0 Ports and One Type II PC Card Slot
13.1″ x 10.8″ x 1.8″ @ 7.8 lbs.
Windows XP Home Operating System
Rechargeable lithium inspiron 1100 battery

Dell Inspiron 1100 budget desktop replacement is probably one of the oldest systems available for under $1000 and its components show that age. The base configuration comes with an Intel 2.0 GHz Celeron processor which is sufficient for most computer users, but lower than most of its competitors. the biggest drawback to the system is the normal capacity battery that ships with it to reduce costs also reduces its possible battery life. The other area that it lacks is the optical storage. It ships with a 24x CD-ROM drive. On the plus side of things, Dell offers many upgrade special offers that can allow one to get memory or optical drive upgrades if they are willing to shop for the deals.

This is the same casing that’s being used in most of the new Inspiron series releases such as the 600m, 8600 and 5100.? One thing I don’t like about the Inspiron 1100 is its large size though.? With a 14.1 inch screen it is certainly not one of your 17″ desktop replacement monsters, but with its dimensions of 12.9 by 10.8 by 1.7 inches and a weight of 7.4 pounds it’s no lightweight.

Many notebooks with large cases will contain two internal secondary storage devices, a floppy and CD-RW for instance.? But not with the Inspiron 1100.? You can only get one fixed (not swappable) when configuring the Inspiron 1100 battery .? You have to choose from CD, DVD, CD-RW or DVD/CD-RW drives when ordering.? The DVD/CD-RW combo is the way to go if you can spend $50 – $100 extra.? If you really want a floppy Dell offers an external USB floppy drive for $49.

With its powerful 14.8V, 6,450mAh inspiron 1100 battery, the Inspiron 1100 had little trouble clobbering the competition in battery life. The Inspiron 1100’s four-hour score is the longest battery life we’ve seen in a Celeron-based system.Dell has achieved providing a respectable notebook that can?do every?day tasks without any problem for a low price.

Dell Dimension desktops are advertised everywhere: from the internet, to television, and in the Sunday papers. While they are inexpensive, I wanted to see if I could get a better price, so I went to the Dell website and looked in their outlet. I found a Dimension 1100 computer and decided to order it, a flat-panel monitor, and a pair of speakers. To my surprise, I was sent the wrong monitor and the right computer tower. The shipping to return the monitor would have been $50 and my monitor only cost $165, so I decided to take it apart and remount it using cable ties. It looks horrible and is lopsided, but it works. The real problem I am having is with the Dimension. This is the slowest computer, and has been from day one. Also, it has a tendency to freeze up a lot and I find I have to restart it completely. Dell products used to be great quality, but we have gone through 4 Dell laptops and 2 Dell computers in a period of three years. Each time, we have to end up buying another computer. One time, it was because the laptop was purchased overseas while on military deployment, so the standard warranty offered, wasn?t valid, though its laptop battery very power.

All in all, if you’re seeking a notebook for word processing, e-mailing, or browsing the Internet, this is a reasonable choice. But other units, like the HP Pavilion ze4200, give you greater value for your money.

Notebook Display: WXGA WSXGA Or WUXGA?

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

When buying a widescreen notebook, it can be a bit confusing to pick the right LCD. Generally, you are given a choice between WXGA, WSXGA and WUXGA notebook displays. What are these and which do you choose?

WXGA, WSXGA and WUXGA

The above acronyms are resolution standards for television and computer monitors. All of them refer to widescreen display standards: WXGA stands for Widescreen Extended Graphics Array; WSXGA for Widescreen Super Extended Graphics Array; and WUXGA for Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array.

WXGA, WSXGA and WUXGA are not the only display standards for screen displays, but they are the most common in notebook computers. True to widescreen standards, all three of these have an aspect ratio in the range of 16/9 to 16/10. They mainly differ in their resolution (the number of pixels they can display on screen).

While all widescreen displays can use resolutions lower than their rated display, they provide the best image at their native resolution, which is also their maximum resolution. Keep in mind that a lower resolution is much easier on the eyes, so you will want to go with a native resolution that does not leave you squinting at the screen in your day-to-day use.

WXGA has a 1366×768 resolution, an aspect ratio of 16/9. WSXGA boasts a greater resolution at 1680×1050 and an aspect ratio of 16/10. WUXGA uses a resolution of 1920×1200 at an aspect ratio of 16/10.

What to Pick?

If you are buying a notebook computer for gaming purposes, you probably want a WUXGA screen for the sharpest image. If you are an HDTV subscriber and you plan to use your notebook computer as an HDTV receiver, WUXGA gives the very highest resolution available. WUXGA is also great for watching movies and viewing digital images due to the sharp rendering of images and pictures.

In addition, WUXGA is very convenient for multi-tasking, provided you can handle the smaller text size. The 1920X1200 resolution is perfect for working on two documents or web pages side-by-side, which can enhance productivity.

Although a WUXGA LCD seems like the obvious choice because of its higher resolution that produces more desktop space and greater amounts of detail, this is not to say that WXGA and WSXGA have nothing to recommend them. In fact, WUXGA is not for everyone.

If the notebook computer does not have a powerful mobile graphics processing unit and a 17-inch or larger LCD, high-resolution gaming and 3D rendering will be more difficult, as it takes a high-end GPU to push modern games and 3D models to 1920×1200 resolutions. As mentioned, customers with less than excellent vision are better off choosing WXGA to get the largest text display. If you want a notebook display with medium-sized text, sharp images, and less than 17 inches of physical screen size, WSXGA is a good compromise, and the 1680×1050 resolution is nothing to sneeze at, by any means.

Guide to buying a desktop computer

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

With the rapid pace of technological developments, nothing has become as ubiquitous as the computer. Everyone’s got one. And they are used for all manner of endeavour, by people of all walks of life. So, do you simply buy the computer that someone’s selling? Or do you do some homework and figure out what detailed specifications are going to make some difference to you?

At Myshopping.com.au you can compare the prices of a wide range of different computers from different vendors and of different specifications. This guide will help you find what you’re looking for.

Mac or Windows (PC)

At the outset, you need to decide what you are going to use the computer for. This will help you make the fundamental decision of whether you should go Mac or PC. Although, with the advent of the dual core processor (an Intel chip now used by Mac) the differences are narrowed a little, there are still some choices that can help you favour one system over another. Historically, Mac computers have a reputation for greater stability that comes from a more robust operating system than Windows based computers. Largely for this reason, Macs have been the computer of choice for the graphic design industry, the music production industry and the video production industry. This has prompted the software manufacturers to make professional software packages for these disciplines that favour the Mac operating system. Although they have packages supporting the Windows operating system, they are often less capable.

Consequently, if you are engaged in these industries and need your computer for this type of work, you should consider Mac. Mac computers appear to attract fewer viruses and software malfunctions than do Windows based PCs. On the down side, there has always appeared to have been limited software support for Mac systems.

Another decision that may guide your choice is the aesthetics of the computer. If you have limited available space, there is nothing quite like the iMacs or the mini Macs for space saving. iMac’s all-in-one desktop units are compact and complete with all the connectivity you need. However, the look of other brands may be more to your taste, with many models available in compact packages and modern colour schemes to suit practically all dÊcor. Now that you’ve made that basic decision, you can start comparing the apples with apples.

The Components of Your Computer

The two factors that determine the price of your computer are size (yes it does matter) and speed. Either or both of these two dimensions are a factor of practically every component that makes up the machine. Naturally the highest price tags go with the combination of biggest and fastest.

CPU

The heart of the computer is the CPU (central processing unit). You need to decide which CPU you want driving your computer. These come from different manufacturers, and the current development of the technology is called Dual Core, which means that there are two processors on the one chip. Dual Core technology delivers more performance with less energy requirements. Intel and AMD are the two leading CPU manufacturers, and they offer different products under different names.

Current processing speeds range from about 1.4 GHz (gigahertz) through to 3.46 GHz. But it is not simply just a matter of speed. There are other considerations. Mac Operating Systems have a different architecture to Windows and will perform many functions faster with a slower speed CPU. A dual core chip at 1.4 GHz will deliver a better performance that a Pentium 4 chip at 1.8 GHz. A 1.4 GH dual core chip running a Mac with OSX Tiger, will perform better than a 2.0 GHz Pentium 4 processor running Windows. You need to decide what you want your computer to do, what your major software requirements are before you decide on the CPU processor.

However, for everyday use, a processor faster than 1.8 GHz will deliver excellent performance. As a rough rule of thumb, choose a Celeron for low cost computing, a Pentium 4 for mid-range budgets, or an AMD Athlon for bigger budgets. You can compare computers based on Pentium, Celeron, Athlon or Dual Core CPUs by searching those specifications on Myshopping.com.au and finding different vendors and brands using different processors.

RAM

This is where bigger definitely means better performance. RAM is the system memory that enables the computer to use its programs and swap data between the hard drive and the program functions. It’s important to match the speed of the RAM of your computer with the speed of the CPU. The more RAM you have available for your programs to work, the faster will your computer run. Most computers today come with at least 256 M (megabytes) of RAM. But memory is a relatively cheap component, and it costs little extra to upgrade to 512 M or greater.

HARD DRIVE

The hard drive of the computer stores your program files and your data. As computers have advanced, so has the need for more capacity to operate programs and store data. People working in media fields tend to work with very large files and require large storage space. Most computers in today’s market come with a minimum of 40G of hard drive space. However, this can be upgraded (usually in 20G chunks) to as much as 200G or more. The effectiveness of your hard drive also can depend on its physical speed (5400-7200 RPM) and the speed at which it can transfer data between the computer’s RAM and the hard drive. Faster means better performance.

REMOVABLE MEDIA

You will want to have a CD-R or (CD-RW) drive installed in your computer, and or possibly a DVD or DVD-R. For reading a CD ROM, all that is required is a CD drive and for watching DVD movies, a DVD ROM drive. However with a CD-R drive, you can record your own data and music CDs, and with a DVD-R drive, you can burn files in a DVD format, allowing you to store movies and data in far greater quantities. The CD-RW (DVD-RW) drives allow you to use re-recordable media. Your decision will depend on what you want to use your media drives for and what you want to store.

Other removable media will possibly include flash card storage, which is usually plugged in via the USB ports on the computer.

MONITORS

The monitor for your computer is integral to its function and aesthetics. If you are working in graphics you may want to stay with a CRT monitor. However most bundle offers these days are supplied with LCD monitors, which have the advantages of smaller space requirements, use lower energy and offer wider screen images. However they generally are more expensive (although prices are dropping everyday), can frequently be not as bright, have limited viewing angles and sometimes require a digital interface connector.

For graphics intensive work, LCD screens do not have the same capacity to render colours in gradients as CRT monitors. Once again, size matters. Bigger screens cost more than smaller ones.

VIDEO AND SOUND

For a detailed explanation of video cards, please see the article on Myshopping.com.au dedicated to Video Cards.

The interface between the CPU and the Monitor is provided by the video card. One of the basic decisions you need to make is whether you require a 3D or 2D card. Video cards come in two different types: those that use an AGP (accelerated graphics port) on the computer motherboard and those that use the PCI bus. Data transfer rate is critical to video performance. Faster video cards use an AGP, and this proves a faster data transfer than PCI cards. Most video cards also have their own video memory installed on the card, a feature that increases a computer’s memory performance. Today, these memories are often 128M or 256M, and can be more in the higher-end cards dedicated to sophisticated video work or gaming. Video cards performance is also affected by what is known as clock speed or clock rate, cards with a faster speed offer faster performance.

Cheaper computers, and laptops and notebooks, have an integrated graphics chip included in the motherboard instead of a discrete video card. This type of configuration is not as powerful or as fully functional as having a separate video card, which can allow more comprehensive gaming, the use of multiple monitors and faster and better rendering of images.

For a computer to reproduce the sounds recorded in games, movies and music products it requires a sound card. Quality of sound can be affected by the sound card your computer has installed. It’s important that you know how you want to use the sound reproduction processes of your computer. If you are a musician and want to record audio, then you will want to be sure that you have excellent connectivity, good midi access and at least 16-bit (CD quality) audio reproduction. Sound cards give you the possibilities of full cinema surround sound, and the many subtle effects employed by high-end games.

Nearly every computer comes with a set of stereo speakers. However it pays to have a good listen to what you’re buying. Make sure you listen to program that you are familiar with (take your own CD along) and compare the sound in a quiet environment. Many speaker systems for computers have poor frequency response and are underpowered. For desktop use that does not involve a quality listening environment this may be satisfactory. But if you want to listen to music and watch movies for the full effect, then you need to consider buying a good quality set of speakers. Use the search facility of Myshopping.com.au to compare specifications and prices of different speaker systems.

KEYBOARD AND MOUSE

The choice of keyboard and mouse are personal choices. Sometimes it depends on what you do on your computer, whether you have formal typing skills or whether you’re a two-finger hack. Serious writers may prefer an ergonomic keyboard. Keyboards frequently have different clicks and responses to others. You may prefer an infrared cordless keyboard and mouse. You may prefer an optical mouse on which you don’t have to clean the rollers. Optical mice have no rollerball, and can be used on most flat surfaces, but they are more expensive.

CONNECTIVITY

Today, connectivity is everything. Your computer can have wireless connections to all of your peripherals: printer, scanner, and other computers. Having an onboard modem will only be really important if you are using a dial up internet connection. Broadband modems tend to be peripherals and you can connect via USB, wireless or firewire. It does pay to consider how you will connect to the internet and other peripherals. It’s not always convenient to get behind your computer to plug something in or unplug it. Some sound cards have a front face panel with all the connections you need. The USB ports on Macs are conveniently located. Many PC manufacturers haven’t caught on to the fact that it’s important for some people to easily access the connections to their computers.

To compare the different bundle offers from different brands, and to compare the different components by their specifications, search the Myshopping.com.au database for exactly the specifications you are seeking. You can compare prices and vendors, and order what you need online with a few clicks.

How to choose a new business laptop from Dell or Lenovo

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Picking out a new laptop for work can be particularly confusing. With so many options available, it’s hard to tell which model, features, and price range will best suit your needs. Customers often approach us and want to know what certain terminology means and how they should configure their laptop. I will explain the terminology you should be familiar with to purchase a laptop online from Dell or Lenovo that meets your needs.

Let’s start with a brief overview of product lines for Dell and Lenovo laptops (business-grade only).

Dell Vostro: Mid-range laptop. Runs from around $400 to $700 plus tax and shipping where applicable. XP “downgrade” available. Balance of features, build-quality, and price.

Dell Latitude: Dell’s high-end business laptop. Runs from around $600 to $1000 plus tax and shipping where applicable. XP “downgrade” available. Good build-quality and features available.

Lenovo Thinkpad SL-series: Entry-level business laptop. Solid build construction (don’t be fooled by the outdated looks!). Priced between $500 and $700. XP “downgrade” available.”

Lenovo Thinkpad R-series: Mid-range laptop with more features and options than the SL. Priced between $700 and $900.

Lenovo Thinkpad T-series: Lenovo’s (and IBM’s) long-standing flagship laptop line. The T-series has all the goodies available, along with excellent build-quality. Price varies from $800 to $1300+.

Next, I’ll introduce you to some technical terms you’ll encounter when browsing or customizing a laptop on Dell or Lenovo’s site.

Processor: What you’ll be interested in is the Intel Core 2 Duo (C2D) technology. Essentially, it can be described as two processors (cores) on one chip. There is a very noticeable speed difference from processors offered in laptops 4-5 years ago.  They also run much cooler temperature-wise and more efficiently than their predecessors. If you’re wondering about the differences in the processor numbers (e.g. T7xxx versus a P8xxx), the differences are very minor. Generally speaking (leaving out the technical mumbo jumbo), as long as the processor is a Core 2 Duo over 2.0 ghz the speed will be more than adequate for office applications, web browsing, presentations, etc. Stay away from the Celeron processors as they are quite a bit slower (less cache).

Memory (RAM): Not to be confused with hard drive space (where you save files), the speed and amount of memory allows determines how much “stuff” you can have open simultaneously and how quickly programs load. These days it is advisable to have at least 2 gigabytes (gb) of ram for Windows XP and 4 gigabytes for Windows Vista. Prices for memory have dropped dramatically in recent years making these larger capacities attractive.

Hard Drive: The size of your hard drive largely depends on what kinds of files you’ll be saving,. If you’re mainly dealing with email, Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, small quanitities of PDFs, and the occasional picture, any hard drive over 60gb will suffice. If you store files such as large amounts of PDFs, video files, or a heavy amount of graphics, seek a hard drive capacity of 120gb to 250gb.

More importantly, opt for a 5400rpm speed drive. It’s typically the standard option and is a good balance between speed and battery life. 7200rpm drives are also available for an additional cost and will help with loading times in general at the expense of battery life.

Screen size/resolution: For the screen size, I generally recommend 14.1″ inches. This size gives you a nice balance of size, weight, viewability for people who take their laptop on the road. If you plan on keeping it on a desk with only the occasional moving around, you should consider 15.4″.  Remember, the larger the screen, the heavier the laptop.

Additional options for a screen might include some type of glossy finish – avoid that as it creates a lot of glare in bright light environments.

As far as resolution goes, 1280×800 pixels is fairly common in recent widescreen notebooks. If your eyesight isn’t so good, stick with that. If you have good eyesight, you might want to opt for a higher resolution like 1440×900 pixels. This allows you to “fit” more on the screen at the expense of text and icons being smaller. LCDs are not like the older CRT monitors where you can change the resolution and everything will stay sharp – text will look blurry if you change an LCD’s resolution to anything other than what it’s made for. Choose wisely.

Graphics card: Another option you may encounter is a discreet versus a built-in graphics card. To keep things simple, only get the discreet graphics card option if you plan on doing a lot of 3D rendering or high-definition video playback (1080p). They cost more and sometimes are problematic. The newer built-in (non-discreet) graphics cards can easily handle DVD playback, outputting to an external monitor, and your office applications, so that is what we generally recommend to customers.

Battery: The minimum I would recommend is a 6-cell battery. Generally speaking, this will give you between 2-3 hours of battery life on a laptop from Dell or Lenovo. The 9-cell battery may bulge out from the laptop a bit, but gives you more life.

Wireless card: If you have a newer wireless-N network setup, take advantage of it by getting a matching built-in wireless-N card for your laptop. It offers higher transfer rates and signal strength than the older wireless-b/g technology.

Other options to consider:

Docking station – Highly recommended if you shuffle your laptop back and forth from work to other locations. Allows you to connect an external monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, and other peripherals without having to disconnect and reconnect every time you leave. Warranty length – Most manufacturers offer 1 year of warranty service for free (though Dell has 3 years standard on its Latitude line). Included software – Stay away from buying office productivity tools from laptop manufacturers because they charge more. You’re better off buying and installing the software on your own.

I hope that these tips have helped clarify the process of purchasing a business laptop. One of the best things you can do when purchasing a laptop is to have a list of requirements (ex. needs to run Windows XP, has to run my companies’ software, must have 3 hours of battery life) beforehand, so that you can match those requirements while you browse and configure options.

The Advantages of an Lcd Television

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Liquid Crystal Displays or LCD’s as they are more commonly known as is the latest in television technology and has invaded the market. Actually liquid crystal display has been there for quite a while now. Did you know that the displays on the microwave or the VCD are all related to this technology? The LCD televisions are very light and extremely slim that they can be hung on the walls like a frame. One of the points that make people want to own LCD-television is the crystal clarity of the picture and even the most uninteresting programs are a pleasure to watch.

The most significant point to consider before you set out to buy an LCD-TV is to see how much room you have to view the TV, and then you can decide on the size that will suit your room.

There are many advantages of buying an LCD. First they are lighter and slimmer than the outdated tube picture televisions; they are not inclined to get burnt out; they have far less screen glare and consume very much less power than the conventional and the newer Plasma televisions.
